We were totally exhausted from the early morning, late nights and the constant long drives, that we were totally knocked out on Sunday. Since it was Sunday, we might as well rest and sleep in. WH decided to join us since she was free on Sunday, which makes it even better since we all slept in and it gave us a chance to take a break from driving as well. So heather did her laundry while we took our own sweet time getting up and all that. Since we had no set plans in mind but to only visit Swan valley. We waited for WH to pick us before we move on and just went from there. We visited Taylor’s arts and coffee for brunch, the place had a rustic feel to it, with a mini art gallery that sells some of the local art pieces. There is both indoor and outdoor sittings, though we sat indoors, I would recommend sitting outdoors if you don’t mind the heat. It would have been nice to seat outside during the cooler days. Despite the food being ordinary, it was still a place worth visiting, with its high reviews online as well. " Taylors Art & Coffee House Next we headed to Swan valley town centre, if you were unsure of what you would like to see or what there is in swan valley, I would highly recommend making a trip to the town centre for help or information. The staff are very friendly and would recommend places or map out a tour for you, in addition, there are brochures on the different tours one can take. We only visited Oggies Ice cream which serves traditional italian gelato, as it was getting late. They had some interesting flavours such as bubblegums in pink and blue which are attractive for the kids. I had the cookie dough which wasnt that good. Because we visited Margaret river before swan valley that we felt that the attractions were similar and nothing. So if you don’t have much time, you can always choose to visit either Margaret River or Swan valley. " Swan Valley Visitor Centre " Oggies Ice Cream Cafe As there wasn’t much to do, WH suggested that we go to Crawley Blue Boat House in the city on that day, though we planned to visit it the next day as she has not been there before in the 3 years she’s been in Perth. Since we had time, why not. It was a little difficult to get a park in that area, and was a test to the driver’s skills as the slope opposite the blue house for parking was really steep. It was crowded on that day and there was a constant queue , though people were respectful, there is an inevitable pressure that everyone is waiting for you and that everyone is looking at you while you pose (Maybe its just me being sensitive). So we hatched up a plan, and quickly got into action, thou the pictures were not perfect, the memory would still last. The spot was just beautiful and randomly situated, making it one of the icons to visit whenever someone visits Perth. " Blue Boat House After which, we just chilled at Andrea’s place, while they try to help me overcome the fear of cats with Andy’s baby Sheen sheen. It was so shy and tame, making it a good experience for me as I hold the cat in my arms. Dinner was at Ramen Samurai in East Victoria Park, the area is like filled with restaurants you would be spoiled for choice. Personally, I felt the ramen was good but average, kind of similar to Hakataya in GC. Than we had presto tea, the bubbletea shop visited by people in perth. It was okay, just a shop to help kurb the craving when you feel like having bubble tea. They had a few options that i would love to try if i had the chance again. I ordered the Charcoal roasted milk tea while heather had the panda milk tea, which was just regular assamu milk tea with black and white coloured pearls. With that we end the night. PS: Super photo heavy post We started the day early as we have a long journey to drive to Fremantle. So I started off driving first in the morning with our leftover dinner from the night before. The plan was actually to drive to Fremantle for lunch but as it was a Saturday, the traffic was really bad with lots of jams. Heather searched for a place or a beach nearby for us to have a break as we haven had anything to eat the whole morning and was already very tired. We ended up in a rest stop in Murray which looks relatively new and had our lunch there. After another hour drive, we finally arrived in Fremantle. Fremantle is a seaside harbour / fishing port at the mouth of the Swan River. Finding a free park was difficult in the area as its a Saturday. After entering and exiting a few carparks, we decided to just park at the carpark behind Round house as it is conveniently behind the fishing port and a short walk to the market. We agree to go to the Fremantle Prison first as we were worried it would close after we finish walking round the market. Google map brought us not only to the prison but round the prison as well, making the 10 minutes walk, a 30 minutes walk under the super hot sun. The Fremantle Prison is the oldest prison in the region, they offer different types of tour frequently through the day so there is something for everyone. We went for the " Doing Time" tour which is the basic tour most people go for. It was a pleasant surprise for us we were offered the concession price with our student ID despite it being from a different state. So bring your student IDs from where ever you are, and you might get an unexpected discount. We felt that the Fremantle prison tour was worth going, as it shows some interesting history, and how often would one experience life in prison. The tour was guided and if you have family who do not understand English, there are audio guides available in a couple of languages. " Fremantle Prison One of the main attractions in Fremantle is the Fremantle Market that is open only from Friday- Sunday every week. It was only a 3 minute walk from the entrance of Fremantle Prison. The place kind of reminds me of Bugis Street, there are many shops that sells souvenirs and accessories with many food stores and a supposedly famous ramen bar ( Dosukoi) which i passed. Its mainly a place for tourist and maybe for locals to grab a bite. I think it only took us 10-15 minutes to finish walking round the place. We chanced upon a stall that gave out free samples of tea, there was a little bit of hard selling from the staff but the tea was really refreshing after the long walk we had. They also sold takeaway cups of teas which are really photo-worthy. ( Photo from Roogenic's instagram: @roogenic) We gave in to the hard selling and bought 3 jars of tea and got 1 free, i personally love the strawberry tea and got that and a jar of the native balance for women (review of that in another post). We were starving and wanted to get a snack before we met WH, a friend studying in Perth for dinner so we settled for some crepes. " Fremantle Market It was slightly too late after walking around the market to visit the round house, and there was nothing more in the market, so we just walked around the area to kill time before meeting WH for dinner. There were many nice places for those who like taking photos, some buildings were painted in colours that make nice background. SO all we did was take lots and lots of photos haha. I was actually searching for the spot where many took their photos at on the railway track and the ferris wheel, but i wasnt able to get an address to the location. So we walked the fishing port area and the beach to wait. You would be able to see the various restaurants on the side of the beach and a railway track. ( Please take note that the track is still running, and to be careful when you are about to take a photo on the tracks, look and evaluate if its safe to stand on the tracks, though its not right 😝). Finally, when we were walking down to Cicerello's, we found the photo spot. So for those who want to know, the spot is just right opposite Cicerello. When were there, the sun was just about to set, giving us perfect lighting, the backdrops makes it a perfect spot for photos, I now understand why everyone takes a photo at this spot when they visit Perth. Both Cicerello's and Kailis were the 2 major restaurants offering similar menus in Fremantle, the war on which is better has been going on for years. WH suggest that we have dinner at Cicerello's as she prefers this over the 2, however, i felt that the fish and chips were over-rated, and oily. It just wasnt to my liking, however, finding a seat on a Saturday was not difficult, and ordering was self serviced. The food came out fast, with salt available for those that felt that the food was bland. We ended the day by checking into our AIRBNB located in Hamilton Hill. The place was conveniently located near Fremantle and was accessible with a car, about 30 minutes drive to the city. The room we rented was beautiful, and the whole place was very cozy, though we shared the house with another, it was still very well kept through out the whole stay, the host was also very nice and accommodating. Thought i will share the place with photos since it was so cozy, it really felt like home for the 3 days we stayed. There was a shared bathroom, a kitchen that was fully equipped and a lounge smartly designed above the kitchen, we had our own entrance and a lounge right in front of the room as well.
